Identify the bottle behind the name
The manufacturer calls this a daily acne-fighting facial moisturizer and highlights 0.5% salicylic acid with soy. Its texture descriptions include both rich cream and light-yet-creamy language. Those are brand descriptions; we have not tested the feel, finish or behavior under makeup.
The DailyMed record we reviewed was updated April 10, 2025 and describes a 4.0 fl oz, 118 mL pump bottle carton. It identifies Kenvue Brands LLC and lists a topical salicylic acid lotion. Lotion in a submitted record and moisturizer in marketing describe different aspects of the same named offer; neither removes the acne-treatment purpose.
An older bottle or retailer listing may show a different labeler, package image or ingredient order. Match the complete product name and current package rather than choosing a record simply because it contains the words Aveeno and salicylic acid. A foaming cleanser with related branding is a different product.
What the active ingredient establishes
The label names salicylic acid 0.5% and gives acne management as the use. That is a concrete regulatory-label fact. It does not establish that the moisturizer is the best treatment for a particular kind of breakout or that every reader should use a medicated moisturizer instead of a plain one.

Nor should 0.5% be interpreted as a universal gentle setting. It is lower than the stated concentration of some other acne products, but individual tolerance depends on more than that number. The label explicitly anticipates dryness and irritation, including when other topical acne medications are used at the same time.
Soy and the rest of the formula
Aveeno promotes its soy component for the appearance of tone and texture. The submitted inactive list includes Glycine Soja (Soybean) Seed Extract, along with ingredients such as glycerin, dimethicone and phenyl trimethicone. Those details help identify the formula; they do not reveal a verified concentration for soy or prove a particular finished-product result.
Fragrance also appears in the submitted inactive declaration. That is relevant for someone avoiding fragrance or checking a known sensitivity. The product's hypoallergenic positioning should not be rewritten as fragrance-free or as a guarantee that no user can react.
Several ingredients have alcohol in their names, including cetearyl alcohol. A useful review reads the full ingredient identity rather than treating every name containing that word as the same substance. We have not performed a formulation analysis that predicts how this entire base will feel for every reader.

Compare those facts with the leave-on shortlist, keeping the sponsored first position separate from clinical judgment. If your main need is moisture, a medicated moisturizer adds a treatment decision rather than automatically simplifying care.
For persistent, painful or uncertain breakouts, product shopping can give way to an assessment. The right next step depends on the concern and the current routine, not on which moisturizer has the most reassuring name. Bring the label; it provides a better starting point than a remembered percentage alone.
